Wood Effect Vinyl
The quality and appearance of wood effect vinyl is improving every year, with many companies appearing on the scene.
There is a good selection of wood effect vinyl to choose from, starting with the less costly,
but with less choice from such companies as Karndean.
At the other end of the scale there are companies such as Amtico, a well established company who have been manufacturing vinyl in all shapes, sizes and finishes for years!
As with many laminates most wood effect vinyl's are put through a special process where the photographic qualities of a wood grain, be it Beech, Oak or similar, are etched upon the vinyl, and finished with a coating, supplying a very hard wear layer.
Vinyl wood effect floors are a great way to cover a bathroom. Carpet rots and ceramic tiles aren't always suitable - especially in a first floor bathroom where the floor will flex and could crack the grout. Solid wood is obviously a non-starter for a bathroom, so wood-effect vinyl is perfect.
Amtico are top of the range - both in terms of quality, choice of design and price. Their white maple and bleached oak would both look great in a bathroom. It costs approximately £60 per square metre (yard) inc. VAT. Contact Amtico on (0800) 667766.
Karndean make a range of vinyl wood floorings too. They have a vast range of wood-effect colours (60 in all!) ranging from the palest German lime through mid-tones like American oak to darker woods like Australian walnut and Brazilian rosewood. They've added two new colours to their existing range: stonewash pine (which is a bluey green) and limewash pine (which has a white-wash effect).
Prices start from £25 per square metre (yard).
